Welcome to Central Missouri Community Action

Founded in 1964, Central Missouri Community Action is a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit organization.

Champions of Change

CMCA’s history is one filled with change, growth, and helping people achieve self-reliance.

CMCA supports low-income individuals and families. When a family comes to us with a specific need, we use a whole family approach and work with these families to provide support for any additional needs by referring them to other programs offered.

Our Mission

CMCA’s mission is to build relationships to empower people, strengthen resilience, and improve quality of life for all members of the community.

Central Missouri Community Action is part of a national network of community action agencies. Our network is dedicated to eradicating the causes and conditions of poverty.

Through the whole family approach we support:

Family Well-Being
This includes family health and wellness, parenting skills, and the cognitive development of children.

Social Connections
This includes leadership development for adults, relationship skills development for adults and children, and civic engagement and community involvement for adults.

Economic Stability
This includes income and asset building, employment, education and skill-building, and safe and stable housing for the whole family.

You can help change the trajectory of those living in poverty by volunteering with CMCA or by supporting our programs with a donation.

Get Involved

Take Action

As a CMCA donor, you provide financial support for crisis intervention and to give individuals and families the support needed to get back on their feet.

Find your county and see what resources are needed.

As a member of our team, you will have opportunities every day to make a positive difference in the communities we serve.

As a CMCA volunteer, you can join a Community Action Team (CAT), become a foster grandparent, or support children in the classroom through Head Start.
